U.S. Google Search users' reactions after seeing AI summaries 2025
According to an early 2025 study, Google search users in the United States who encountered artificial intelligence (AI) summaries on their search result pages were less likely to click on links presented on the feature. Users who saw an AI summary clicked on a traditional search result link in eight percent of visits, while those who did not encounter an AI summary clicked on a search result in 15 percent of visits. Additionally, only one percent of users who encountered an AI summary clicked on a link in the summary itself.
