A survey released in 2026 asked large language model (LLM) users in the United States in which situations they would find it most unacceptable for an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant to display advertisements. When working on confidential professional documents ranked first, selected by 16.7 percent of the participants. When discussing mental health or personal struggles followed, chosen by 15.5 percent, while 13.7 percent of respondents said they found ads unacceptable in all situations, regardless of context.
