Media usage in Canada - statistics & facts
Television still reaches more Canadians each week than any other medium, but its grip is loosening: in 2024 and 2025, 83 percent of adults tuned in weekly, down from 98 percent in 2012. Time spent followed the same trajectory, with Canadian adults averaging 16.2 hours per week with television in 2025, compared to 19 hours in 2023, according to weekly time spent with media data. Overall, the weekly media reach across Canada survey confirms the same story: linear formats are losing ground to digital alternatives across every channel.
