At the end of 2023, approximately ** percent of adults surveyed in the United States said they thought advertisements were a waste of time. Around ** percent reported distrusting ads on TV, while less than **** (or ** percent) of respondents stated that ads help them choose what to buy. The share of U.S. adults saying they were more likely to engage with ads on social media than on regular websites grew by ** percentage points between 2019 and 2023, reaching ** percent in the latter year.
