Trade within the European Union is governed by the Single Market rules, centered on the ‘four freedoms’: free movement of labor, capital, goods, and services. These rules aim to eliminate internal trade barriers such as tariffs, quotas, or discriminatory taxes among member states. While some barriers still exist, progress has been made over the past two decades, reflected in increasing intra-EU trade.
