International trade in Europe is dominated by the European Union, the world's largest trading bloc, with the European single market allowing companies in EU member states to trade across borders without facing trade barriers such as tariffs and quotas. The EU is not only an international economic power due to the trade between its member states, but also due to its global trade relations. EU member states are major exporters to the world market, and access to the 450 million consumers of the single market—facilitated through trade agreements—is highly valued.
