In April 2024, polls showed that the current president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, maintained strong support with a 61.4 percent voting intention ahead of the presidential elections. Leonel Fernández, who previously held the presidency three times, was in second place with just over 23 percent voting intention, while Abel MartÃnez was in third place with less than 10.8 percent support according to the polls.​
