In the second round of Colombia's 2026 presidential election, Abelardo de la Espriella, a prominent criminal defense lawyer and far-right candidate, led with nearly 49.7 percent of the vote. Right behind him, Iván Cepeda Castro, the leftist candidate of the ruling coalition, narrowly missed victory after securing roughly 48.7 percent.

However, even as de la Espriella celebrates his projected win, the exceptionally thin margin means everyone must wait for the official results. The legally binding count is currently underway and is expected to deliver the final, certified results between Wednesday, June 24, and Thursday, June 25, 2026. The officially certified winner will be sworn in on August 7, 2026, for the 2026–2030 constitutional term.
