Yamandú Orsi, the Broad Front candidate, fulfilled the forecasts by winning the general elections in Uruguay, held on October 27, 2024. According to official data, Orsi obtained approximately 46.2 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, his main rival, Álvaro Delgado (National Party), came in second place with 28.15 percent of the support. However, despite the 18-point difference between the two candidates, Orsi did not surpass the 50 percent needed to win in the first round and, on November 24, he will have to face Delgado, backed by the current president Luis Lacalle Pou, in a runoff.
