While regional elections in France generally generate less interest than presidential ones, no election campaign has been received with such indifference as the 2021 campaign. Less than a quarter of French people showed interest, compared to ** percent for the 2015 regional campaign. Moreover, the abstention rate in the first round of the regional elections of 2021 is the highest ever recorded: only **** of registered voters went to the polling station.
