According to the source, AI tools are being increasingly used to launch cyberattacks by disguising their malicious bots as web crawlers to bypass security measures that commonly would only allow known web crawlers to pass.
According to a 2024 study, ByteSpider Bot was responsible for 54 percent of all artificial intelligence-enabled attacks worldwide. AppleBot ranked second, representing around 26 percent of all tracked global attacks, while ClaudeBot accounted for 13 percent. Despite the popularity of its tool, ChatGPT User Bot contributed to only 6 percent of the attacks.
