During a survey carried out among consumers in the United States in March 2022, 51.4 percent of respondents who said they did not follow any virtual influencer - defined as a digital character designed to simulate human qualities and influence people's decisions - said they did so because they were not interested. Real influencers were preferred by 24.5 percent of respondents, while 24.1 percent said they were not aware that virtual influencers existed.
