Advertising spending: additional information
Advertising can leverage virtually any medium to be effective. Both print media and television, radio, cinema, outdoor advertising, mobile devices, and digital formats have already served as channels for advertisers. The most recent figures indicate that the main mode continues to be television advertising, but there is an increasing trend toward the use of digital ads, with a forecasted share of ** percent of all media spending in 2018.
Internet advertising on mobile devices is a subsector of the advertising industry that receives substantial investments. In 2013, mobile internet advertising spending per person using the internet via a mobile device in North America reached U.S. dollars. Analysts estimate steady growth of this value in the future and an estimated spending of * U.S. dollars per mobile internet user by 2018. The global distribution by region in 2014 shows that North America and Asia-Pacific were the leaders in mobile advertising, with spending of **** and *** million euros, respectively, in this medium.
Due to technological advances and consumer preferences, not all media receive as much investment as others. To understand which media have been affected by this factor globally, one should consult the change in advertising spending. Internet spending is forecasted to grow by **** percent toward the end of 2015. However, for traditional media such as radio, magazines, and newspapers, a decrease in advertising spending is expected; magazines would experience the most drastic decline, of **** percent, in the same period.
