During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, exhibition companies worldwide canceled several in-person events and explored digital formats in 2020 and 2021. According to a June 2021 study, ** percent of trade shows in Chile were planned as virtual events in 2021, and ** percent of trade shows in Italy in 2021 were organized as hybrid events. Meanwhile, ** percent of Russian of such fairs were projected to take place in person in 2021.
