Since its adoption, e-commerce has permanently changed the shopping experience in Uruguay. The e-commerce market revenue in the country has more than tripled since 2017, and it's forecast to surpass 3.4 billion U.S. dollars by 2029. In 2025, the South American country was among the ten largest e-commerce markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, holding approximately 1.5 percent of the e-commerce revenue in the region. This seemingly small figure is notable when considering the population of Uruguay, 3.5 million in 2024.
