*15,600 consumers were surveyed six times. Each survey group included 52 companies, totaling 312 companies over the entire survey period. The sample for one company within one group was randomized and included 300 respondents.
The index was calculated based on the "image score of contributing to SDGs" and the "SDGs evaluation score". The original questions were as follows:
Image score: "For the following company, if you were to assign a score for "contribution to SDGs", what score would you give it on a scale of 0 to 100?"
Evaluation score for a list of 30 issues: "Do you think it is important for companies to address the following issues?"
"For the following companies, do you think they are working on these issues? Please answer for each company."

Oji Nepia was considered the most sustainable personal care company in Japan in 2023 based on the Sustainable Brand Index score. The Japanese manufacturer of paper-based sanitary products received a score of over *** points based on consumer opinions of the company's sustainable brand image and contribution to Sustainable Development Goals. Procter & Gamble ranked highest among foreign brands, with * index points.
