As of early 2026, traditional financial institutions found measuring AI value considerably more difficult than fintechs. ** percent of traditional FI respondents described it as challenging, compared with ** percent of fintechs. Fintechs were also more than twice as likely to find measurement easy. This was likely due to legacy IT systems, fragmented data environments, and more rigid governance structures at incumbent firms, which make it harder to isolate and quantify AI's impact compared with the more flexible, data-centric models common among fintechs.
