As of early 2026, fintechs reported stronger AI productivity gains than traditional financial institutions across most business functions. The gap was most pronounced in technology, data and product roles, where ** percent of fintechs reported a positive productivity impact compared with ** percent of traditional FIs. Front office and client-facing roles showed a similarly wide gap, as did corporate functions and leadership. Back office and operations were close to parity, while risk management and compliance were the only functions where traditional FIs marginally edged ahead.
