BNPL and credit card installment plans were used across a similar range of spending categories, but credit card installment plans saw consistently higher adoption in almost every category in 2025. As of September 2025, travel and vacation bookings were the most common use case for credit card installment plans at **** percent, followed by home services at **** percent. For BNPL, events and experiences and food delivery through a third-party app were the leading categories, each at around ** percent and *** percent respectively. BNPL usage was notably low for everyday spending such as grocery purchases, restaurant purchases, and utility bills, suggesting the product remains concentrated in more discretionary or larger one-off purchases.Â
