Throughout 2025, the use of credit card installment plans consistently outpaced BNPL adoption among U.S. adults. In December 2025, **** percent of respondents reported using credit card installment plans compared to **** percent for BNPL, a gap of roughly ** percentage points. This gap widened notably between April and September 2025, when credit card installment plan usage jumped from **** percent to **** percent while BNPL usage declined from **** percent to **** percent. Both metrics remained broadly stable in the final months of the year.
