During a February 2026 survey among adults in the United States, approximately ** percent strongly disagreed that the government should penalize companies whose political or social stances it did not agree with. Additionally, ** percent somewhat disagreed with that possibility. Around ** percent neither agreed nor disagreed, while ** percent agreed that the government should punish brands making opposing stands. According to the same study, over **** of U.S. consumers were less likely to buy from brands taking stands on political issues they disagreed with.
