How effective is television advertising? When given a choice among several types of media, ** percent of American consumers reported that they often searched for or purchased a product advertised on local television news. Although the primary influence on consumers’ purchasing decisions comes from recommendations by friends, television advertisements were mentioned as the second most influential source by ** percent of Americans surveyed.
