Potential risks of AI to journalism worldwide 2024
Journalists cited loss of creativity and original reporting as the biggest long-term risk to journalism as of November 2024, with 54.3 percent responding to a global survey saying this was their main concern. Erosion of critical thinking skills came a close second, followed by concerns about increased misinformation and loss of journalistic integrity. Whilst it is true that AI can be deployed in various areas of the modern newsroom to journalists' advantage, many still express reticence to use these tools, in some cases due to insufficient training or a continued preference for traditional methods.
