From 鈥渂ig in Japan鈥 to big in the whole wide world. Tokyo-based Dentsu has grown to become the largest advertising agency group in its home country and the fifth-largest in the world. Coming on the heels of Big Six peers like WPP and Publicis Groupe and with a yearly revenue of more than eight billion U.S. dollars, the company has consolidated both its position as a global colossus and as a domestic player with a reach that has in the past been likened to that of the CIA. As of 2024, Dentsu had a total of 724 consolidated subsidiaries, including major agencies like Carat, iProspect, and Merkle, serving clients such as Volkswagen, Netflix, and Heineken.
