This statistic is based on the annual EU survey on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in households and individuals. Data are collected on a yearly basis by the National Statistical Institutes and are based on Eurostat's annual model questionnaire.Â
Data refers to the share of individuals who used the internet for internet banking within the last three months before the survey. Internet banking includes electronic transactions with a bank for payment and similar activities, or for looking up account information.Â

The gender dynamics of online banking usage in Ireland show an interesting shift recently. Historically, women maintained a slight edge in adoption rates from 2016 to 2021. However, 2022 marked a reversal in this pattern, with men taking the lead for the first time. Male users reached a penetration rate of percent, while female users followed closely at percent during this year. Both genders demonstrated consistent growth in online banking adoption over the past decade, though the gap between them has relatively increased in the country lately.Â
