This statistic is based on the annual EU survey on the use of Information and Communication Technologies in households and individuals. Data are collected on a yearly basis by the National Statistical Institutes and are based on Eurostat's annual model questionnaire.Â
Data refers to the share of individuals who used the internet for internet banking within the last three months before the survey. Internet banking includes electronic transactions with a bank for payment and similar activities, or for looking up account information.Â

The usage of online banking in Germany increased steadily between 2013 and 2024, except in 2021 and 2022. Women affected slightly more during this period of downward trend, declining from percent adoption rate to percent, whereas men only experienced around ** percent retention. Conversely, In 2024, male users reached a penetration rate of percent, while female users followed closely at percent. Both genders demonstrated significant growth in online banking adoption over the past decade, though the gap between them has become relatively narrower over time.Â
