An online survey was launched in October 2023 and was answered by 1,908 respondents, of which 1,766 were filled out by non-BEV drivers and 142 by BEV drivers in Italy. The survey closed in November 2023 after being open for one month for non-BEV drivers. As BEV drivers were harder to reach, their survey remained open until February 2024.

Based on a survey conducted in Italy in October and November 2023, ** percent of respondents desire a minimum 400-500 kilometer driving range for a battery electric vehicle. Furthermore, ** percent of Italian respondents prefer a driving range of more than *** kilometers. The desired range is defined as the number of kilometers that can be driven with a fully charged battery without the need for recharging.
