An online survey was launched in October 2023 and was answered by 2,221 respondents, of which 1,897 were filled out by non-BEV drivers and 324 by BEV drivers in the Netherlands. The survey closed in November 2023 after being open for one month for non-BEV drivers. As BEV drivers were harder to reach, their survey remained open until February 2024.

According to over a of Dutch consumers, an exemption from road tax would be a high-impact governmental incentive to influence their decision to drive a battery-electric vehicle. A purchase subsidy for new electric cars as well as a higher tax deduction each attracted ** percent of consumers, who defined these incentives as high impact.
