Free commercial time (FCT) refers to the time available to air a television advertisement on a channel. In India, FCT is measured and sold in 10 second slots. For example, if the ad length amounts to 30 seconds, then three 10 second slots need to be purchased by the advertiser.
In 2024, Tamil regional channels were the leading genre for television advertising in India, with a free commercial time (FCT) of *** million seconds. It was closely followed by the news genre. Both these genres accounted for ** percent of the overall FCT for television that year.
