Citation formats

In 2020, direct debit payment services were ranked as the most important payment instrument on the German market, accounting for almost half (44.3 percent) of all transactions.

Card payments accounted for around 28.7 percent of payment methods which made it the second ranking payment instrument. This is surprising compared to neighboring countries where card payments where of more importance, such as in Denmark (69.8 percent) and Belgium (50.7 percent).
