That is the question millions of Argentinians are asking themselves following the scandal involving Javier Milei after the publication on his private X profile of a cryptocurrency project called $LIBRA, which turned out to be a scam. Although the degree of involvement and guilt of the current president of the South American country is still under investigation, the impact on his public image has been immediate, with nearly 14 percent of the population withdrawing their support.

According to experts, this could be a case of rug pulling, an operation in which a cryptocurrency is created and promoted by hiring famous people to convince investors. When demand and investment have grown significantly, the developers — who hold the majority of the project's shares — sell them off massively all at once, causing a sudden collapse in value.
