The poor results obtained in the Patagonian nation are surprising, given that other evaluations conducted by experts place it as one of the countries with the greatest adherence to the rule of law. This contrast largely justifies the importance that the population's perception of the institutional protection of basic rights can have, in addition to what other more technical perspectives may say about it.

What are basic rights and how are they violated?

Fundamental rights are all those that ensure the enjoyment of human life with full dignity. To protect them, the justice system must have a sufficient body of laws and an impartial, transparent, and uniform legal system. Only in this way can social well-being be optimized. Otherwise, the feeling of failure regarding public institutions can translate into lower trust in the integrity of authorities and a low degree of satisfaction with democracy.
