According to a survey held in the U.S. in 2024, the majority of news influencers have no affiliation with a news organization. A total of 77 percent of news influencers did not currently work for a news organization and had not done so in the past, meaning that most such influencers online have different or potentially less journalistic training than the 23 percent who had some kind of connection to a news company in the industry.
