News audiences in the United States are more likely to trust local news than national news, a 2025 survey revealed, with ** percent of all respondents saying that they had a lot or some trust in local news, whereas just ** percent said the same about national news. Seven years earlier in 2016, the share of adults who felt that national news were a trustworthy source stood at ** percent, ** percentage points higher than in the 2025 survey.
