In 2023, just under *** streaming original titles were released across major streaming services in India. The drop in releases compared to 2021 can be attributed to a deceleration in investment in content by key players. Among the domestic platforms, mergers and acquisitions and financial circumstances were the leading factors for lesser content production. Meanwhile, global services Netflix and Amazon Prime Video saw fewer releases due to longer production times and content strategies being reassessed.
