In August 2021, almost a third of buy now, pay later (BNPL) users in the United Kingdom have missed their payments at least once. Half of those were late for their payments more than once. However, not all respondents failed to pay off their debts because they could not afford it or ran out of funds. Most respondents in the U.S. were using BNPL services out of necessity in 2022.
