Budgeting was a leading reason why **** out of 10 consumers chose buy now, pay later (BNPL) schemes, although this varied noticeably per country. This is according to a survey conducted in seven different countries across Europe and North America. Motivations for BNPL use were different between countries. In the United States, for instance, the main reason for using BNPL was the inability to pay upfront. In Austria, this reason was among the least important.
