A survey conducted in 2019 revealed the types of social media accounts followed by teenagers in the United Kingdom (UK). According to the results, musicians and bands were the most followed social media figures among teens. The biggest follower difference by age was from comedy and fitness accounts, with more respondents aged between 17 and 19 years old following these types of accounts compared to younger teens.

Influencer marketing in the UK

Just over one fifth of the respondents of a 2018 survey on the attitude of consumers towards influencer marketing in the UK stated that there was a lack of honesty between influencers and their followers, and almost half of the respondents said they would prevent influencers from making a commission by deliberately not clicking on their affiliate links. During the same year, around a fifth of PR and marketing professionals in the UK said they planned to spend between ** thousand and 100 thousand British pounds on influencer marketing.

Social media during the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK

The majority of respondents to a survey held in March 2020 in the UK said that the role of social media companies during the coronavirus outbreak was to provide fact-checked content to help people cope with the outbreak. Additionally, roughly half of the respondents believed that social media would help connect neighbors and local communities with each other during this period, and over a quarter of respondents stated that social media companies should provide live-streams of events during the pandemic.
