According to a survey on the status of truck drivers in India, the truck driving profession based on social reputation was stated to be most unattractive in the national capital region of Delhi by over ** percent of respondents in February 2020. A larger proportion of truck drivers who stated that their social reputation of the profession made it unattractive belonged to the middle age groups of up to 40 years rather than younger drivers below 25 years of age in the country. The social reputation of truck drivers also seemed to result in unwillingness of families to get their daughter married to a person of such profession.
