A majority of truck drivers, at about ** percent, stated that their working conditions were bad according to a survey conducted on the welfare of truck drivers across India in February 2020. The working conditions in the coastal city Mumbai were reported to be bad by over ** percent of respondents. Long unscheduled working hours to complete the trip on time, non-standardization of wages and corruption by police were some of the leading reasons for the poor working conditions of truck drivers across the country.
