In 2022, the national logistics costs in South Korea amounted to approximately * trillion South Korean won. This was the highest figure recorded over the surveyed period. Logistics costs continued to increase since 2016, with decreases recorded in 2009, 2012, and 2016. 

South Korea’s logistics costs compared to its GDP

Although South Korea’s logistics costs were on the rise over the years, it’s share in comparison to its GDP did not follow the same pattern. Overall, the share of logistics costs to GDP was on an upward trend. This could be attributed to how the logistics costs per ton changed over the years, with the figures showing correlation. 

South Korea’s logistics industry segments

The logistics industry in South Korea is categorized into three different sectors. Most domestic companies operated in the transportation sector, especially land transport. The leading South Korean company in the logistics industry was Hyundai Glovis, which is part of the Hyundai Motor Group conglomerate.
