According to a survey conducted across on the status of truck drivers in India in ***, the trucks were driven alone by over ** percent of drivers from national capital region of Delhi without a helper or co-driver while on their trips. Clauses like requirement of a co-driver and minimum education qualification had been relaxed by the government due to shortage of drivers and helpers across the south Asian country. Furthermore, driving with a helper directly impacts the earning of the driver since the expenses of the helper must be compensated with the driver's daily wages.
