The Big Six is soon to become the Big Five. In late 2024, New York-based Omnicom Group, the world鈥檚 third-largest media holding company, announced it agreed to acquire fellow NYC rival Interpublic Group (IPG) for 13 billion U.S. dollars, in a deal that will create the world鈥檚 largest advertising company if it passes through. The new entity will retain the Omnicom name and aims to better compete with Big Tech and rivals such as WPP and Publicis Groupe, as the industry undergoes significant artificial intelligence-driven changes.
