According to the source, the advertising spending was calculated based on an assumption of 75% off rate the rate cards given by the media owners. Actual discounts may vary. For digital ad spending, only display ads were covered, and search ads were not included. Social media ad spends referred to the branded content ad spend of Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

In 2024, the banking & investment services industry continued to be the biggest ad spender in Hong Kong, despite spending eight percent less on advertising. The pharmaceuticals & healthcare industry followed with an 11 percent increase. The order of the top four industry spenders remained unchanged.
