Among these politicians, who was considered the best by the French in 2019? The founder of this same Republic, Charles de Gaulle, topped this ranking and was cited as the greatest head of state of France since 1958 by 30 percent of the French. Tied for this position was President Jacques Chirac, who passed away on September 26, 2019, and led France from 1995 to 2007. In third place was his socialist predecessor François Mitterrand.
