Data refers to the share of citizens who were recruited into the Nigerian public sector between November 2020 and October 2023 and who either paid a bribe, used nepotism, used bribery and nepotism, or neither of each.

According to a survey conducted in Nigeria in 2023, 40 percent of respondents indicated that they neither paid a bribe or obtained help from their friends and relatives to secure their position in the public sector. On the other hand, while 27 percent of them used bribery to be recruited, 13 percent passed through nepotism.
