Cases of corruption and sanctionable practices closed by PIAC in Africa 2015-2021
In 2021, the Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption (PIAC) closed 56 corruption and other sanctionable cases in Africa after completing investigations. This was close to double the concluded cases in the previous year. Overall, most of the cases originated from Western and Eastern Africa.
PIAC is a department of the African Development Bank (AfDB) mandated to carry out independent investigations into corruption and other sanctionable practices within the AfDB and AfDB-financed operations and to develop preventive measures that would mitigate the risk of such practices.
