Citation formats

According to a survey conducted in Nigeria in 2023, while some citizens who had contact with government officials had no bribe payment requests, others were asked to pay a bribe, which they either paid or refused. Nearly 10 percent of those who interacted with police officers received a bride demand, while six percent were from public utilities officers. By comparison, only one percent of the citizen repondents were asked by officials working in an embassy, or who was a member of Parliament, to pay a bride.
