A survey conducted in the United Kingdom (UK), between February and May 2024, found that 17 percent of respondents associated cryptocurrencies with scam and phishing. Crime and money laundering followed closely, at 16 percent. Additionally, the third-most common concept reminding the UK respondents of cryptocurrencies was that these were an alternative to the traditional financial ecosystem.
