In the second quarter of 2022, the total volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Israeli seaports stood at about 14 million metric tons. This reflected an 11.8 percent decline in comparison to the second quarter of 2023. With the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023, international shipping in the country has been impacted. Most significantly affected, was traffic in the Southern port of Eilat, which was disrupted following attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Red Sea shipping lanes.
